Needing both a creative outlet and some additional video content to attempt to monetize our Youtube channel, about three months ago, I quietly started a Youtube series called “Nicole Reacts (To Online Marketing Guru Trainings)”.

I didn’t tell everyone right away because I wanted to see how it went. Would anyone care about my little ol’ opinions about Jenna Kutcher, Grant Cardone, and Seth Godin? Would anyone laugh along with the over-the-top guru trailers, unbelievable income claims, and other ridiculous elements that all these gurus seem to implement?

Then my Rachel Hollis reaction took off… and doubled our subscribers in a month.

I guess people do care. And also I think, people are sick of these people selling them one-size-fits-none marketing solutions.

What I wasn’t expecting when I started was not only how many elements each would have but also how self-referencing the gurus were, some of them even using the exact same wording and pitching the same audiences. When I found this article about the optimized ‘friendship’ (AKA corporate partnerships), I realized this went deeper than I even thought: https://rachaelkayalbers.com/rachel-jenna-amy-seo-optimized-friendship/

There are so many reasons not to listen to gurus but the main one is them trying to sell you a fool-proof one-size-fits-all plan when it might not be what you need at all.

In this broadcast, I talk gurus and what I’ve noticed listening to them talk for 50ish hours.
