Breaking Even Blog Break This Week

Sadie on Sand Beach this summer.

The Breaking Even blog is taking a brief hiatus this week.

My dog has recently become very ill and after taking her into the emergency vet yesterday, it was found she has two tumors on or near her heart. This is both a risky and costly surgery, and one that’s almost impossible for my 15 year old dog.

I am likely going to have to put her down this week, and I have been taking it really hard. It’s been hard to concentrate on just getting the things done I have to do, let alone taking the time to do things I enjoy like writing this blog.

Breaking Even will be back next week and this week, I’ll be spending some time with my gal Sadie. Please keep us in your thoughts and here’s hoping you are also spending some time this week with someone you love.

I’m so proud of you for paying attention to your needs and feelings! We’re thinking of you.

  • “”Oh, Nicole, I am so very, very sorry… “” I know how much Sadie meant to you. After a time, dogs become FAMILY. I hope that she finds comfort in her next life. Saying lots of prayers for you both. “

I am so sorry to hear this. My dogs are my family. I’ve had to put down a few in previous years and it’s never an easy decision no matter the situation. Hugs to you both.

  • While we’ll all miss the mischevious little pooch, and I’m sure its not going to be easy, just remember what a wonderful last few years you have given her. You really treated that dog to some good times – hopefully thats a little solace. You’ll be in our thoughts. “

I am so sorry Nicole. Sadie is a very sweet dog and it is obvious that she loves you just as much you love her. I enjoyed the brief visit you both had at our home. This is a link to a poem that has brought me some comfort in the past. Maybe it can do the same for you? We are keeping you both in our thoughts.

  • Sorry to hear about your pup, Nicole, but I agree with Sarah C. It’s great to hear you can take some time to do what you need to do in order to get through this time. Looking forward to your return…”
