Night Rider’s Lament Or Taking The Road Less Traveled

Night Rider’s Lament Or Taking The Road Less Traveled

Anyone who has taken a difficult step away from what they are 'supposed' to do can't say they've never doubted it. I am no exception.
There are periods of uncertainty I go through where I wonder if I'm doing the right thing.
I've been housesitting for a couple good friends this weekend and while walking through their neighborhood and seeing all the houses for sale today, I thought "Shouldn't I be on the path towards this?" I mean, shouldn't I have a house and maybe a husband and kids by now? Why am I using my nest egg to start a business that may or may not work?

This Week In Business: Back To It Edition

Coming back from trip is always interesting, especially realized you have agreed to housesit the week immediately following your return. This makes me glad I invested some time last week making my business more mobile!
Here's what else I haven't been up to, you know, besides driving hundreds of miles.

I've given myself much more reading to do by joining some LinkedIn groups.
LinkedIn is a professional social networking website but what I've heard from most of its users is that its power lies in the groups. Various LinkedIn groups have been set up around geographic location, occupation, or even hobbies.

To Move Or Not To Move

To Move Or Not To Move

There comes a time in every person's life when they realize they need to make a change, even if it requires spending more money. My moment came last week.

Having someone visit my apartment is always interesting if only because it makes me realize how small it is. Most of the time, I can ignore it but someone else is around, I get questions.

Too Cute Tuesday: Dog Biscuits

Too Cute Tuesday: Dog Biscuits

You'll notice that if you are a regular reader of Too Cute Tuesday that many of our regular participants have pets. I (Nicole) have Sadie, the beagle-Corgi mix. Dorrie has two Australian shepherds, Blue and Sparks. Sue has Duke, who is in a category all his own. Christy, while dogless, has two cats, Jane and Doodle.

Originally we were going to be inclusive of dogs and cats but when Christy couldn't come, we just made dog biscuits. And with a matching cocktail, what could be better?

Blue and Sparks approve of the dog treats, though they might not be the most discerning critics.

This Week In Business: The Galavanting Edition

This week was an unusual one for me. I had a friend visiting from London the past five days and yesterday, I flew to Baltimore for my friend's wedding Saturday. Being on the road a lot allowed me to work on making my business a bit more mobile. Here's a little of what I did this week besides have fun playing tourist:

I got and set up my new laptop.
After hearing so much about Macs (and the fact that about half my clients are using them), I decided the only way to get proficient with them was to get one and learn with it. My MacBook Pro is quite slick and is allowing me to begin this first draft in the lobby of my hotel while I wait for my ride to show up.

Too Cute Tuesday: Pumpkin Carving

Too Cute Tuesday: Pumpkin Carving

Sue's pumpkin carving skills were admired by all.

The same thing happens to me every year. I buy a pumpkin, and all good intentions aside, Halloween comes and I've forgotten to carve it. Not this year!

While there appears to be a pumpkin shortage, there were plenty to be found at my favorite farm stand. Also, the carving allowed my visiting friend Phil (who is British) to take part in this gooey and slightly odd American tradition.
