I started looking through her other videos when I found an interview Tavi G did with Rich at Weardrobe.com.
Weardrobe.com is not just what you wear but how you wear it. Real people submit photos of their outfits for voting on the site. The winner every month (the photo with the most ‘hearts’) wins a gift card. On the site are also blogs about style.
Also, they are very interested in promoting the work of other bloggers even off of their own website. They have a huge blogroll (list of links) and interviews with fashion/style bloggers.
You can connect to Weardrobe with the usual social media methods. Enthusiastic supporters can even display badges. on their sites (Want to make people want to link back to you? Give them something pretty like a badge to put on their website!)
I also give major kudos to a company getting themselves out there with an unlikely blogger. I know many people who’d be uncomfortable (or even think it relevant) to interview with a 12 year old but Rich knows Tavi is hitting his target demographic: those who want to be stylish on a budget. Plus Tavi’s channel has received over 100,000 hits. Rich recognizes that getting the word out to anyone big in his genre online will only help his website succeed.
The main sponsors of Weardrobe are Overstock and American Apparel, which makes sense. Weardrobe.com is helping people’s wardrobe’s go farther by showing people how to wear their old stuff in new ways. Also, the younger demographic can’t necessarily afford designer. Weardrobe.com offers an attractive advertising opportunity to companies reaching out for a younger, more thrifty consumer.
I’ve noticed boutique owners are also submitting their photos and showing in the caption how viewers can ‘shop’ the look online at their store. Brilliant.
Where is your target demographic online? Thrifty fashionable people appear on Weardrobe. If you sell clothing or accessories, own a boutique, are a stylist, or blog about style, you might want to think about joining this community. For others, there may be something like this in your niche.
