Wohoo, it’s a five part mini-series about how friends can help friends for free. On the surface, it’s a common sense series of posts but a concept I think a lot of us need to be reminded of, especially single folks who have families far away like myself. My point: we need to rely on each other now more than ever!

A cop-out post for the finale? No way.

Sure I’m asking your opinion but it’s only because I’m hoping lots of people will respond with random touching things their friends have done for them and give us all some ideas. I have a few that come to mind though there are many many more:

A friend confronted me when I wasn’t being honest with myself about a guy I was dating. Gutsy? Yup. Necessary? Unfortunately.

A group of my friends showed up at my house to help me kick said boy to the curb then cook me dinner afterwards. Picture four women eating soup and glaring at a visibly scared guy as he slinks off. I still chuckle thinking about that one.

A woman I hardly knew lent me one a few pans from her cakepan collection which I know she really treasured.

People on Vinalhaven who offered and lent me their cars without even asking about my driving record.

A friend invited me to her family’s Easter meal when I had no place to go and everyone genuinely seemed to want me there.

Two friends showed up in Vegas for me.

A friend worked on my father’s moped for a week trying to get it running not even letting me reimburse them for parts.

And from the sole respondent to my Facebook inquiry about the best thing someone had done for them: having a friend spend time with them even if they aren’t closeby physically, knowing that this person cares enough about you that you can call them anytime day or night.

So what is something really nice that someone did for you that was cheap or free that made your day? Comment and maybe you’ll inspire someone else!
