John Swinconeck, besides having a cool name, also has the cool distinction of having worked with Breaking Even since the early days. Originally as a subcontractor even back in 2009, John helped Nicole with press lists, press releases, and even music compositions to be used in short edited videos. He loves the way he has been able to use an array of skills — including social media marketing, video editing, press releases, and even original musical composition — to help Breaking Even grow. John has also developed a soft spot for open source web content management tools.
John has an extensive background in journalism, including reporting, writing, editing, still photography, videography, and pagination. His work has appeared in The Boston Globe and Boston.com; hyperlocal news sites including the Daily Voice and Patch.com; and community newspapers including The Times Record, Journal Tribune, and York County Coast Star.
While working a stint at Nielsen Advertising Solutions, he wrote and edited online surveys used to collect metrics about every ad, product placement, and program sponsorship occurring across all broadcast and major cable networks during prime time.
He is thrilled to be back in Maine (his adopted home state), raising a growing family. He’s being a journalist most of the time but Breaking Even is happy to have him some of his spare time.
John can be seen online sharing funny articles, taking photos at the beach, and otherwise being a cool person.
